Coffee Talk- As a Chronically Sick Woman, What Frustrates You About the Medical System?
Why does it take for a person to be on their dying bed before they are believed of their symptoms and what they are actually going through with their health?
If all the symptoms are coming from the same one diagnosis, then why can’t all the symptoms be treated by the same Dr.? I have to go to five different specialists to treat the symptoms individually, even though they all agree, it’s from the same autoimmune condition.
My Response to this one: FACTS!!!!
Besides most ER doctors thinking I’m pill seeking, when all I want is a Toradol shot?! What really annoys me, is having to drop my orthopedic spine or hip surgeon's name. When I state who they are, the ER doctor gets a lot nicer and that is how it should have been before name dropping. I have to carry a folder listing all my illnesses, current imaging, a list of all my procedures my pain mgt doctor has done and all my surgeries I’ve had to replace bad joints and what my orthopedic spine surgeon did to stabilize my spine.
When Dr.’s say- “Not sure? Could be a combination of problems.”
I have FND and Fibromyalgia and I'm sick of not being believed that this is real and not in my head. ER visits are pointless, as they say- “Sorry we can't help you.” Like I’m not in pain that debilitates me daily. I can't walk or talk. It's so hard to stay positive and that my life will get better with being dismissed by those that should care.
