The Pink Gene Project

The Pink Gene Project is an evolving body of work exploring women, illness, identity, and what happens when the body is not believed. Through portraiture, painting, mixed media, found objects, medical imagery, and symbolism, the work examines the complicated relationship between women and the medical system.

The portraits give faces to women living with autoimmune disease, while works such as She, the spoon pieces, and paintings incorporating prescriptions and handwritten language explore the physical, emotional, and psychological weight of illness. Pink becomes both a visual thread and a symbol—representing the women whose symptoms were first attributed to anxiety, stress, or psychosomatic causes before they received answers.

Together, these works create a visual record of invisible illness, medical dismissal, resilience, and the deeply personal experience of trying to be heard.
